DESCRIPTION:\n\nIn line with the Cancún Adaptation Framework under the Un
 ited Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)\, countries a
 re encouraged to formulate and implement National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) 
 to reduce vulnerability to climate change and integrate adaptation into na
 tional development planning. The process to formulate and implement NAPs w
 as established by the Conference of the Parties through decision 1/CP.16\,
  paragraphs 15-18\, enabling Parties to identify medium- and long-term ada
 ptation needs and to develop and implement strategies and programmes to ad
 dress them. Its objectives and initial guidelines were subsequently set ou
 t in decision 5/CP.17\, which frames the NAP process as a means of reducin
 g vulnerability and integrating climate change adaptation into national an
 d sectoral development planning.[i] NAPs provide a coherent framework for 
 addressing medium- to long-term climate risks\, strengthening adaptive cap
 acity\, and promoting climate-resilient development pathways.\nFor countri
 es in East and Southern Africa\, adaptation is a critical priority due to 
 heightened exposure to climate risks such as droughts\, floods\, and chang
 ing rainfall patterns that affect agriculture\, water resources\, biodiver
 sity\, and livelihoods. While many countries have initiated adaptation pla
 nning processes\, several have not yet submitted their NAPs or remain at e
 arly stages of development. The NAP process goes beyond producing a formal
  document: it promotes institutional coordination\, evidence-based plannin
 g\, stakeholder engagement\, and alignment with national development strat
 egies\, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It also play
 s a key role in unlocking climate finance\, guiding investment decisions\,
  and strengthening resilience across sectors.\nTanzania stands out as a le
 ading example in the region\, having completed and officially submitted it
 s National Adaptation Plan (NAP). The country has established a multi-sect
 oral coordination mechanism led by the Vice President's Office (Division o
 f Environment) and has aligned its NAP with the Tanzania Development Visio
 n 2050\, NDC 3.0\, the Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LED
 S)\, and relevant sector policies. This achievement underpinned by strong 
 institutional coordination\, inclusive stakeholder engagement\, and integr
 ation of adaptation into national planning frameworks provides a practical
