 rly half of the world’s land and support the livelihoods and food securi
 ty of millions of pastoralists. They are essential for food security\, cli
 mate resilience\, and biodiversity\, yet face growing pressure from climat
 e change and land degradation.\nWith over 700 million people facing hunger
 \, sustainable pastoralism offers important solutions for resilient liveli
 hoods and ecosystems.\nOn 15 March 2022\, the United Nations General Assem
 bly at the initiative of the government of Mongolia\, declared 2026 as the
  International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) and invited the 
 Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to facilitat
 e its implementation. This high-level event will bring together Permanent 
 Missions\, international organizations\, and Geneva-based partners to stre
 ngthen dialogue and action across key global agendas.\n  The event will i
 nclude high-level remarks\, thematic interventions\, and a networking oppo
 rtunity with an exhibition showcasing pastoralist systems and products.\nF
