The Fifth Session of the Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology and Innovation Bangkok, will be held from 2 to 4 September 2026 in Bangkok.
As a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Committee on Information and Communications Technology, Science, Technology serves as the intergovernmental legislative forum for advancing digital connectivity and transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.
At the fifth session, the Committee’s deliberation will be focus on three key areas, namely: (a) promoting regional policy dialogue to advancing digital inclusion and transformation; (b) strengthening regional cooperation to bridge the digital divide and advancing digital transformation through implementing the action plan of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative, 2027-2030; and (c) sharing policy experiences and strengthening technical capacity on the application of emerging technologies for digital transformation.
The Committee session will coincide with the tenth session of the Steering Committee of the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway, which will be held on Monday, 1 September 2026. This event, along with several side events, will promote technical knowledge sharing and complement the Committee’s discussions. The session is organized by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of ESCAP.
