DESCRIPTION:Co-hosted by the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and prote
 ction of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism 
 and the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and 
 other international organizations in Geneva.\nThe use of artificial intell
 igence (AI) in countering terrorism and violent extremism presents stark n
 ew challenges for human rights\, civic space\, and the rule of law. This e
 vent will present the findings and recommendations of the Special Rapporte
 ur’s Position Paper on Protecting Human Rights while Using Artificial In
 telligence\, and will convene key interlocutors\, including from Member St
 ates\, international organizations\, policy makers\, academia and civil so
 ciety\, to reflect on the human rights impacts of using AI to counter terr
 orism and strengthen compliance with international human rights law in suc
 h uses of AI. The Position Paper was financially supported by the Governme
 nt of Switzerland\, which also co-sponsored its launch at the UN Headquart
