In its Resolution 57/14, the Human Rights Council requested OHCHR to convey a one-day intersessional panel on measures to prevent, counter and address dehumanizing and harmful narratives about migrants and migration, hate speech, xenophobia and related forms of intolerance against migrants, and on avenues to strengthen national, regional and international monitoring and complaint mechanisms to report cases of human rights violations, discrimination and abuse against migrants at international borders, aiming to ensure access to justice, highlighting best practices and challenges in this regard.
The panel will be structured in two sessions:
1) Preventing and addressing harmful narratives about migrants and migration.
2) Strengthening human rights monitoring and complaint mechanisms in the context of migration.
