As highly sensitive zones, waterfront lands are often subject to specific regulations concerning ownership rights, usage, public-private transitions, conservation, construction, public access, and other measures addressing water-related risks. Therefore, these areas are of particular interest for land management and legal policy discussions.

Drawing on the results of a survey among UNECE member States, the objective of this webinar is to present the results of a study covering the typology of these regulations and their impact on land management, ownership dynamics, and environmental resilience. The findings will inform the formulation of policy recommendations. This is a joint activity of the UNECE Working Party on Land Administration (WPLA) and the UNECE Real Estate Market Advisory Group for Sustainable, Climate-Neutral and Energy-Efficient Buildings and Cities (REM).
