SUMMARY:The impact of the demographic shift in the UNECE region

DESCRIPTION:Demographic shifts\, especially low fertility\, ageing and mig
 ration in UNECE countries will lead to significant system changes. These d
 emographic shifts have implications on economies and social support system
 s\, health\, education\, as well as sustainability of infrastructure and s
 ervices\, including at sub-national level. Changing composition of populat
 ions will require substantial investments and timely planning to adapt to 
 the new population structure. We are welcoming presentations on potential 
 scenarios and the impact the structure and composition of the population a
 nd socio-economic impact and sustainability of current social and health s
 ystems as well as on planned projects to create awareness or to identify u
 pcoming challenges governments and societies have to face and on adapting 
 to demographic changes.\n \nThe focus is on the programme countries in th
 e UNECE region (Western Balkans\, Eastern Europe\, Caucasus and Central As
 ia) but examples and analyses can come from the whole UNECE region or even
  globally. It is organized in the context of the Regional Coordination Gro
 up on Data and Statistics for Europe and Central Asia.\n \nDate: 30 Septe
