Celebration for International Albinism Awareness Day: Demanding our rights: Protect our skin, Preserve our lives
On June 17 2025, UNOG will host a cultural event to mark the International Albinism Awareness day. The theme for 2025 is “Demanding our rights: Protect our skin, Preserve our lives”. It highlights the urgent need for awareness, prevention, and access to essential healthcare for persons with albinism.On this occasion, UNOG will host “Je suis albinos!”, an exhibition by Pierre-William Henry featuring photographs and testimonies of people with albinism in Central Africa, highlighting their experiences and societal challenges they face.
You are invited to the opening of this exhibition on June 17 at 17:00 at the Palais des Nations, Mezzanine in Building E (Door 40).
Activities will begin with a tour of the photo exhibition, followed by opening remarks, including a keynote address by a person living with albinism who will share personal stories and achievements.
A skin cancer prevention clinic will also be offered by the medical department, providing the opportunity to get more information on the topic. The official opening of the exhibition and a cocktail reception will conclude the event.
