The financing of terrorism is a global phenomenon that not only threatens Member States’ peace and security but also undermines economic development and financial market stability. While countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) is of utmost importance, Member States face significant and persistent challenges.
This Roundtable aims to strengthen the collective response to terrorism financing through a more coordinated and comprehensive approach, leveraging the expertise and resources of participating entities.
It will serve as a forum to discuss the challenges that new technologies present to law enforcement and other authorities responsible for countering the financing of terrorism, as well as how these technologies can assist Member States in combating terrorism and its financing, in line with human rights standards.
Furthermore, it will identify practical solutions, share good practices, and foster collaboration among international, regional, and national actors to enhance the effectiveness of counter-terrorism financing measures.
The discussions will also focus on how nations can adapt regulatory frameworks to keep pace with technological advancements while adhering to human rights requirements.
