DESCRIPTION:In the wake of Summit of the Future\, and in preparation for t
he Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4)\, t
he Beyond Lab and IISD will host a joint intergenerational and multidiscip
linary workshop to explore how Governments can transition towards more inc
lusive and sustainable economic systems for the wellbeing of people and pl
anet. The exchange will look at how policymakers can integrate existing to
ols and methods to measure progress beyond GDP in an intergenerationally e
quitable way\, as well as explore how to overcome political\, economic and
institutional barriers to making a shift towards valuing not only economi
c\, but also social and environmental wellbeing.  \nEvent Summary\n\nThe
re is growing international recognition that today’s financial and econo
mic systems are not equipped to capture the true wellbeing of our societie
s and ecosystems for a sustainable future for all. The Pact for the Future
\, adopted at the recent UN Summit of the Future\, highlighted the need to
redefine prosperity beyond traditional economic indicators like Gross Dom
estic Product (GDP)\, and redesign our economic systems around social and
environmental values\, and towards a regenerative economy. The Fourth Inte
rnational Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) further presents
an opportunity for Governments to commit to reforming the international fi
nancial architecture for people and planet. \nSo how can governments tran
sition to new measures that account for comprehensive wealth\, long-term s
ustainability\, and wellbeing? What are the political\, economic\, and ins
titutional barriers to making this shift? How can we ensure intergeneratio
nal equity in the transition beyond GDP?  And how can international colla
boration support countries in implementing these changes?  \nThe UN Beyon
d Lab and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) w
elcomes you to an interactive workshop\, bringing together young people\,
policymakers\, researchers\, and thought leaders to unpack these questions
and help create a roadmap for a transition towards more inclusive and sus
tainable economies. Building on IISD’s extensive work on comprehensive
wealth and the Beyond Lab’s convenings on values-based financing and ret
hinking economic systems\, this event aims to look at how Governments can
shift beyond GDP and adopt new frameworks that reflect economic\, social a
nd environmental wellbeing.   \n \n\n\nSpeakers \n\nH.E. Matthew Wilson
