WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific is convening a Member State Technical Consultation on Climate Change, the Environment and Health which will be held on 13 March 2025, Manila, Philipppines through videoconference.
Climate change and environmental hazards − such as air pollution, exposure to hazardous chemicals, and lack of water and sanitation − pose serious threats to the health of people in the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region.
Recognizing that technical work in the region follows global action plans and frameworks, the consultation will provide opportunity for member states to feedback on the three global documents as well as comment on two additional agenda items.
The objectives of the consultation are:
(1) to consult Member States and seek their feedback on the three CCE-related global documents to be presented to the World Health Assembly, as agreed at the 156th session of the Executive Board;
(2) to update Member States on the status of WASH in health‑care facilities, including preliminary results from the Country Progress Tracker; and
(3) to discuss the five-year strategy for the WHO Asia-Pacific Centre for Environment and Health in the Western Pacific Region prior to the seventy-sixth session of the Regional Committee for the Western Pacific.
