The WHO Health Emergencies Programme (WHE) is organizing the Third Workshop for Alumni of the Western Pacific Field Epidemiology Fellowship Programme from 22 to 24 April 2025, in Manila, Philippines.

The workshop aims to strengthen the WPRO FEFP alumni network by fostering a Community of Practice (CoP), enhancing knowledge exchange and emergency response coordination. It will build regional health security workforce capacity in public health intelligence (PHI) through an effective Global Health Emergency Corps (GHEC) and introduce FETP Plus, a new initiative to advance core public health workforce skills. The workshop will build on past successes, adapting lessons learned and tools across the region, while the CoP will sustain collaboration, drive innovation, and enhance resilience against emerging health security challenges.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  1. to strengthen the FEFP alumni network in the WHO Western Pacific Region by fostering a Community of Practice for knowledge exchange and improved emergency preparedness and response coordination;
  2. to enhance the regional health security workforce’s capacity in public health intelligence (PHI) to adapt and deliver specialized trainings and tools in Member States; and
  3. to introduce the concept of FETP Plus, develop module outlines and case studies, and discuss next steps.
