Hunger Hotspots & Gaza Food Security Situation Update

According to the latest Hunger Hotspots report, the Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC) warns that acute food insecurity will increase in magnitude and severity across 22 countries and territories from November 2024 to May 2025.

Join us for a critical discussion on the findings of the latest Hunger Hotspots report. The event will shed light on the alarming rise in acute food insecurity globally, and the urgent need for humanitarian action in the face of escalating conflict, economic pressures, and climate extremes, including the La Niña weather pattern that threatens to destabilize food systems worldwide.

The event will include a discussion on the deepening crisis in Gaza. On 8 November 2024, the IPC Famine Review Committee issued an alert on an imminent and substantial likelihood of famine.

 Speakers:

Fleur Wouterse, Deputy Director Office of Emergencies and Resilience, FAO, on behalf of the GNAFC

Ciro Fiorillo, Head of Office, FAO West Bank and Gaza Strip

Antoine Renard, WFP Country Director, Palestine
