In the face of intensified challenges including growing population and climate change, the importance of fisheries and aquaculture is increasingly recognized underlying the potential of aquatic food systems to provide solutions for sustaining food security, economic development and environmental protection.
In this context, this session will discuss the main findings and messages from the 2024 edition of the State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture, FAO flagship report providing a detailed situation report on matters ranging from global aquatic resources to the trade in fisheries and aquaculture products or analyses of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing and small-scale fisheries. This edition of FAO in Geneva Fisheries Trade Talks will also provide an opportunity to exchange views and share experiences in relation to the existing tools, solutions and approaches that can enhance and contribute to the achievement of the Blue Transformation vision.
