The consultation aims to bring together leading experts, practitioners, and stakeholders to discuss and develop strategies for integrating environmentally sustainable procurement practices within the health sector. This initiative aligns with WHO’s commitment to promoting climate resilient, environmentally sustainable practices while ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
The specific objectives of the consultation are to:
1. Foster a collective understanding of the existing mechanisms, challenges, and opportunities, for the health sector to achieve climate resilient and environmentally sustainable health services and supply chains;
2. Identify strategies, tools and resources needed to support Member States to implement the health initiatives on climate resilient and low carbon, sustainable health systems’ supply chain commitments and the Global Framework on Chemicals for a Planet Free of Harm from Chemicals and Waste on chemicals of concern in healthcare settings;
3. Share experiences and facilitate collaboration between and among international agencies, countries, health systems and other sectors for implementation of climate resilient and environmentally sustainable health care and supply chains.
