The WHO-National Control Laboratory Network for Biologicals (WHO-NNB – “the Network”) was established in 2016 at the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) networking meeting in the Netherlands[1] by representatives from 21 national vaccine control laboratories responsible for testing of WHO-prequalified vaccines. This operational network is a platform for collaboration and technical exchange on quality control and quality assurance of vaccines and other biological medicinal products.

The Network’s main objectives are to share quality data and technical information related to prequalified products; to facilitate access to and availability of prequalified vaccines (or other biological medicinal products) through reliance on the responsible national regulatory authority/NCL's lot release by recipient countries, and thereby reduce redundant testing; and to promote the development of harmonized common standards and to share best practices.
