The Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS) Core Team is organizing a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop from 16 to 20 September 2024, in Berlin, Germany.
The upcoming workshop is designed for experts across the three levels of WHO, Member States and representatives nominated by the EIOS Coordination Group (EIOS governing body) as well as other partner collaborators. It follows previous successful EIOS ToT workshops which have demonstrated a significant impact on EIOS implementation through consistent and standardized training delivery. This is a core component of the expansion and sustainability strategy of the EIOS initiative and an essential step for building and strengthening capacity in Member States for the rapid and early detection, assessment and communication of potential health threats and risks.
The main learning objective of the workshop is to gain the skills required to train other adult learners (PHI professionals) on the EIOS system, its layout and functions and its use for the detection monitoring and communication of health threats. Through this 5-day workshop, participants will learn:
- The basic principles of adult learning and how to apply them effectively.
- How to communicate the advantages of implementing PHI, describe key terms, outline information sources, and describe the relationship with public health surveillance.
- The history, objectives, and components of the EIOS initiative and its positioning within the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence and the broader PHI community.
Kindly note that during the registration process, we will request you to provide some personal data, including a copy of your passport and your photo. This information will be required to complete travel and visa arrangements on your behalf. Also, upon your arrival in Berlin, we will issue a WHO badge which will allow you to access the WHO premises during the event.
For participants sponsored by the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence, WHO will provide the per-diem for Berlin to cover your hotel and meal expenses (all-inclusive).
