Within the framework of achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and in preparation for the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) are organizing a regional consultative meeting titled “Reinforcing the Environmental Dimension of 2030 Agenda for Sustainability and Peace in the Arab Region”. This consultative meeting focuses on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda and in particular on the SDGs under review at the 2024 HLPF: Goals 1, 2, 13, 16 and 17. 

The objectives of the meeting are to:

  • Foster discussions among stakeholders on sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions building on regional and national initiatives and best practices;
  • Explore opportunities to scale up solutions for implementing SDGs 1, 2, 13, 16 and 17 within the context of conflicts and crises impacting the region;
  • Discuss regional opportunities for strengthening synergies and integration between the SDGs and Paris Agreement.
  • Identify priority actions and means of implementation to achieve the SDGs under review.
