On the occasion of the 6th World Bee Day, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, the FAO Liaison Office with the UN in Geneva, and the United Nations Office at Geneva will jointly organise the event World Bee Day “Honey for Empowerment” at the Palais des Nations, UNOG.
Empowerment of women, girls and youth contribute to sustainable, inclusive, and resilient societies. In this year’s World Bee Day celebrations in Geneva, we will explore how beekeeping can be used as an important tool for promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in their communities. The event will provide a platform for sharing experiences and examples of good practices of empowering women and girls through beekeeping.

Honey produced by mine and UXO survivors from Bosnia and Herzegovina “Beekeeping as a tool in empowerment of mine victims” was implemented by Organization of Amputees UDAS in partnership with ITF, Beekeeping Academy of Slovenia and Slovenia’s Development Aid.
