The Webinar recordings are now available.

Common Default Grid Emission Factor Data Set developed by the Technical Working Group of the International Financial Institutions (IFI TWG) provides a harmonized approach for assessing the mitigation benefits of renewable energy (RE) or energy efficiency (EE) or transport projects financed by IFIs. The grid factors are increasingly being applied in other areas as well (e.g. corporate GHG accounting or product foot printing). During the webinar experts from IFI TWG will explain the underlying methodology and data sources used to develop the grid factors.

More about the IFI TWG:

Many financial institutions (IFIs) including multilateral development banks have been working together since 2012 through the Technical Working Group of the International Financial Institutions (IFI TWG) to harmonize project-level greenhouse gas emissions accounting. The IFI TWG recognizes that a harmonized approach will improve consistency and comparability of their climate and development projects, set a good-practice example, and increase the robustness of the assessment of the climate impact of their investments. Currently, close to 25 institutions are members of the IFI TWG. The UNFCCC secretariat serves as the Group Coordinator for the IFI TWG.

The IFI TWG released harmonized GHG accounting methodologies for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and transport sector projects. Please click here to view the list of harmonized standards/approaches and guidelines adopted by IFI TWG.
