The objective of this FAO Dialogue is to raise awareness on why and how social protection can and should be leveraged to anticipate and respond to shocks, alongside its role in reducing poverty, promoting economic inclusion and building resilience in the long term. Furthermore, the Dialogue will reinforce the role of States as the primary actors responsible for the delivery of social protection to their population, whilst also exploring the complimentary role of both humanitarian and development actors to support efforts to leverage social protection systems to anticipate and respond to shocks. The event will feature speakers from the Government of the Philippines, the Permanent Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, The Social Protection Inter-Agency Cooperation Board, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as well as the co-organizers of the session, FAO and WFP.
