Description

UN Women, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, is organizing a three-day global convening entitled Women’s Leadership for Sustainable Peace from 15 to 17 November at the Palais Des Nations (Conference room XXI) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Drawing on recent needs assessments of Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs), peacebuilders, and political figures, the conference will provide an opportunity for dialogue, exchange of information, and strategizing on technical and financial support for the implementation of the WPS agenda understood broadly and on women’s meaningful, effective and full participation in peace and political transition processes specifically. The conference will also explore creative ways to link women leaders (in-country and in the diaspora) with other WHRDs at the regional and global levels to build solidarity for women’s rights, including exploring how women’s regional networks could influence key national, regional, and global policy.
