The GCC Containment Working Group (CWG) acts as a technical arm reviewing the reports submitted by the National Authorities for Containment and advise the GCC on the implementation of CCS used by the countries. Since this group was set up, annual meetings are organized with countries that have decided to retain poliovirus type 2 after the eradication declaration in 2016. This annual meeting provides an excellent platform to share updates, have direct exchanges with the CWG advisory group, and strengthen countries’ collaboration and interaction among biosecurity and biorisk for the poliovirus.
