The VII Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Americas and the Caribbean will convene, virtually, under the theme, ‘Building Resilient Economies in the Americas and the Caribbean,’ to raise awareness of the increasing economic and human cost of disasters in the Americas and the Caribbean, including the special challenges facing small island developing States (SIDS) and the lessons learned by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. The Forum will be hosted by the Government of Jamaica, the first Caribbean country to host a Regional Platform.
La VII Plataforma Regional para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres (RRD) en las Américas y el Caribe se convocará, virtualmente, bajo el tema 'Construyendo economías resilientes en las Américas y el Caribe'. Este importante evento buscará aumentar el grado de sensibilización sobre los crecientes costos económicos y humanos que generan los desastres en las Américas y el Caribe, incluidos los retos que enfrentan los pequeños Estados Insulares en Desarrollo y las lecciones aprendidas de la pandemia del COVID-19 y sus impactos. El Gobierno de Jamaica será el anfitrión de este foro, el primer país caribeño en ser el anfitrión de una Plataforma Regional.
