"The World in Faces"

Palais des Nations, E Building, Second Floor, United Nations Office in Geneva

Wednesday, 24 November 2021, 12:00p.m. - Friday, 10 December 2021

The United Nations Office at Geneva and the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation in collaboration with the company Norilsk Nickel, present Russian ethnographic photographer Alexander Khimushin's exhibition “The World in Faces”.

“The World in Faces” exhibition shows the world’s diversity of traditional cultures through the portraits of 171 indigenous peoples from 90 different ethnic groups, all in their traditional clothing.

The exhibition has already been displayed on numerous occasions. In 2018, Alexander Khimushin was invited to cooperate with the United Nations Commission on Human Rights on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 2019, officially declared as the Year of Indigenous Languages, Alexander Khimushin held an exhibition for his “The World in Faces” project at the UN headquarters in New York. The exhibition was dedicated to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII). Before arriving at the Palais des Nations, the photo collection was also exhibited in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris aiming to honor Indigenous Peoples' right to their own unique culture.

Join us for the opening of the exhibition on Wednesday 24 November at 12 p.m. at United Nations Geneva, E Building, second floor!
