Background 

In its resolution 77/245, the UN General Assembly reaffirmed its call for the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) to be convened in 2024. 
  
Hosted by Antigua and Barbuda, SIDS4 will take place on 27-30 May 2024 under the theme “Charting the Course Toward Resilient Prosperity”. The Conference will agree on a bold new Programme of Action for SIDS, with concrete, measurable, targets to support SIDS to achieve their sustainable development objectives over the next ten years. The outcome will build on the 
SAMOA Pathway (2014); Mauritius Strategy (2004); and Barbados Programme of Action (1994)

As per paragraph 38 of A/RES/77/245 and A/CONF.223/2024/PC/L.1, the non-governmental organizations and major groups identified in Agenda 21 and other stakeholders in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, as well as those that were accredited to United Nations conferences on the sustainable development of small island developing States, held in Barbados, Mauritius and Samoa should register in order to participate. 

Representatives of organizations that received special accreditation to SIDS conferences including at the Preparatory Committee or the General Assembly to attend SIDS4 should register using this portal. Please check the consolidated list of organizations that have received special accreditation to attend SIDS4 here.  

The deadline for registration is 26 April 2024 (5 pm EST).

Please Note:  

  • If your organization has both consultative status with ECOSOC and has also been accredited to one of the Conferences listed above, your representatives should register using this dedicated link for NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC. 

  • Non-governmental organizations, major groups and other relevant stakeholders will be allowed to request registration for up to 10 delegates each.  

  • Submitting registration doesn't guarantee your in-person participation. If your registration is approved, you will receive an approval letter confirming your in-person participation.
